Discover the Next Generation of SIM Technology: iSIM with Remote SIM Provisioning
Welcome to the future of IoT connectivity. The Integrated SIM (iSIM) represents a breakthrough in SIM technology, offering a more compact, power-efficient solution compared to traditional SIM cards like the pluggable SIM (pSIM) and embedded SIM (eSIM). Designed to meet the demands of modern battery-powered IoT devices, the iSIM also known as iUICC is integrated directly into the baseband controller, eliminating the need for separate eSIM modules as well as SIM cards and card holders.
Our Legacy: Leading the iSIM Revolution
G+D Mobile Security, in collaboration with Sony Semiconductor Israel, launched the world’s first iSIM back in 2021, setting a new benchmark for connectivity in the IoT space. The first generation of iSIMs featured fixed subscriptions, optimizing them for devices where power consumption is critical. However, as the market evolves and the need for more flexible solutions arises, we are excited to introduce the next evolution – iSIM with Remote SIM Provisioning (RSP) functionality.
Why RSP for iSIM?
While fixed subscriptions make sense for many battery-powered devices, the ability to remotely manage and provision SIM profiles can be invaluable for devices with less stringent power requirements or those that are deployed in the field for extended periods. With RSP, it’s possible to switch between different Mobile Network Operator (MNO) profiles during initial setup or in response to changing connectivity needs – offering enhanced flexibility and lifecycle management for IoT solutions.
Introducing the SGP.32 Standard: A Milestone for IoT Connectivity
Since 2023, the GSMA’s new RSP standard, SGP.32, has been transforming the IoT landscape. This standard builds on the IP-based communication protocols used in consumer devices (e.g., smartphones, tablets, wearables) while addressing the unique requirements of IoT use cases. With the introduction of SGP.32, IoT devices can now benefit from secure, scalable, and efficient remote SIM management, further accelerating the adoption of iSIM technology.
Experience Innovation at Electronica 2024
G+D and our partner Murata are proud to present a live demo of the first iSIM with RSP functionality, compliant with the SGP.32 standard, at Electronica 2024. This groundbreaking technology promises to revolutionize the IoT sector, offering unparalleled flexibility and future-proofing for connected devices.
